Rabbi Elisha (הי"ד)

Elisha was born in January 1985, in Highland Park, NJ, to Tzvi and Shoshana he had
four siblings Yakir, David, Yocheved, Yechiel and Noam.
In 1993, he made Aliyah and moved to Bet Shemesh. Elisha studied in the Yeruham
Hesder yeshiva and Kollel. Having studied in yeshiva for over ten years and
becoming an ordained rabbi and dayan, Elisha decided to work in the ﬁeld of
computer science as a Back End engineer at a high-tech company.

Elisha married Hadas and together they had six children: Eitan, Bneya, Michal, Yiscah, Amichai and Rut.

Elisha was a true Zionist, kind-hearted, honest and a gentle soul with
a listening ear for everyone. He was a serious Talmid Chacham and enjoyed
debating those who held views different to his own,
allowing him to see others points of view.
On October 8th Elisha was called up for emergency reserve
duty with the 179th Armored Brigade.

A Hero in Life and Death

Rabbi Elisha Loewenstern was killed in action
in the Southern Gaza Strip on the December 13th.

as he rushed to save fellow soldiers who’d been injured
by an anti-tank missile.
He was killed on the sixth night of Hanuka, at thirty-eight years old.

Life After Elisha

Elisha leaves behind Hadas and six children:
Eitan Yitzhak almost 13, Bneya Yaakov 11, Michal Tirza 10, Yiscah Bracha 7,
Amichai Yisrael 5, Rut Yafa 15 months.
Elisha’s wife, Hadas, in an act of incredible strength and courage, eulogized her
husband. When she entered the cemetery, she called out to the well wishers that they
should hold their heads up high in pride as this was a funeral of a true Israeli Hero.
