Ma'oz Penigstein (הי"ד)

Ma’oz, was the oldest son of Tzurit and Elad born in December 1998.
Ma’oz grew up in Talmon after moving from Canada. He studied in high school at
the Mitzpe Ramon Yeshiva, then continued at Ramat Gan and Nitzanim
before enlisting in the IDF.

Ma’oz married Odiya, and they had a daughter.

After his wedding, Ma’oz was discharged from the Duvdevan unit. He returned
to study Torah at the Carmel Yeshiva and dreamed of starting a bicycle business.
On October 7, 2023, he was called up for reserves.

A ﬁghter

When the war broke out, Ma’oz was drafted to the south. Ma’oz was always the
ﬁrst to step up and as team members recall even in the toughest moments, he
always made sure to lift their spirits. From the moment they entered Gaza, he
would say, “Come to Gaza, it’s fun here”.

On December 19 during an operation in Jabalya,
Ma’oz was killed during operational activity.

Life After Ma'oz

Ma’oz left behind his wife, Odiya, and their infant daughter,
Teneh, who was only three months old. The family lives in
Givat Hanan in the southern Hebron Hills.
