The Chen Family

Yonadav Raz (הי"ד)

Ziv was born to Abraham and Rosa Chen and spent his childhood in Kfar Saba.
He studied at the Petach Tikva Yeshiva high school and then moved to the
Yeruham Yeshiva.

Shortly after he joined the IDF serving as a combat soldier in the Gaza Division’s
Southern Brigade. He then returned to Yeshiva as a full time student.

He then married Hallel and they were due to celebrate their ﬁrst wedding anniversary the very week he fell in combat.

A True Hero

On the October 7th Ziv was called up for emergency reserve
duty and deployed to Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak.
He took part in the ﬁerce ﬁghting and took out numerous terrorists
while saving many lives.

On December 2nd was killed in action along with his company commander and another soldier while battling terrorists in Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip.

Life after Ziv

Ziv leaves behind his wife Hallel who is pregnant with their son.
Hallel mentioned that on the Shabbat when Ziv was deployed they had just
found out that she was pregnant and were both excited to begin the next chapter
of their lives. Hallel takes comfort that she carries the continuation of Ziv within her.
